‘முஸ்லிம் தீவிரவாதிகள்’: இந்தியாவின் குற்றசாட்டை இலங்கை இராணும் முற்றாக மறுப்பு

இந்தியாவில் தாக்குதல்களை நடத்துவதற்காக இலங்கையில் பாகிஸ்தானிய தீவிரவாதிகள் பயிற்சியளிக்கப்படுவதாக வெளியான குற்றச்சாட்டை இலங்கை அரசாங்கம் இன்று மறுத்துள்ளது.

இலங்கையின் பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சின் பேச்சாளர் பிரிகேடியர் ருவான் வணிகசூரிய இந்த மறுப்பை வெளியிட்டுள்ளார். இந்தக்குற்றச்சாட்டு அடிப்படையற்றது என்று அவர் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

இலங்கை சிறிய நாடு என்ற அடிப்படையில் இங்கு பயங்கரவாத நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள முடியாது என்று அவர் சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளார். இலங்கை இராணுவத்துக்கே தமது பயிற்சிகளை மேற்கொள்ள முடியாதுள்ளது.

இந்தநிலையில் வெளிநாட்டு தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு இங்கு பயிற்சி எடுப்பதற்கு எவ்வித வாய்ப்பும் இல்லை என்று வணிகசூரிய கூறியுள்ளார்.

இலங்கையில் உள்ள பாகிஸ்தானிய உயர்ஸ்தானிகரத்துடன் இணைந்து பயங்கரவாத நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபடுபவர் என்று கூறி இந்தியாவில் இலங்கையர் ஒருவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

இவர், இந்தியா, இலங்கை மற்றும் மாலைதீவு ஆகிய நாடுகளில் தாக்குதல்களை மேற்கொள்ள தயாராக இருந்ததாக தெற்காசியாவின் பயங்கரவாதத்துறை நிபுணர் ரொஹான் குணரட்ன தெரிவித்திருந்தார்.

அதேவேளை பாகிஸ்தானுக்கும் இலங்கைக்கும் இடையிலான இருதரப்பு உறவுகள் நெருக்கமடைந்துள்ளதை புதுடில்லியால் சகித்துக் கொள்ள முடியவில்லை எனவும் சுட்டிக்காட்டப்படுகிறது 

The Sri Lankan Government today rejected claims that Muslim extremist groups are undergoing training in Sri Lanka to carry out attacks in India. Defence Ministry spokesman, Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said that such claims are baseless and are not backed by evidence.

He noted that Sri Lanka, being a small country, cannot be used for training by groups for terrorist activities without going undetected. “When the army itself cannot find land to conduct its own training exercises there is no chance of other groups training on Sri Lankan soil,” he said.

Wanigasooriya said that the army conducts frequent search operations in the jungles inside Sri Lanka and has never come across camps used by any extremist group for training in terrorist operations.

The New Indian Express had earlier quoted Sri Lankan terrorism expert, Dr Rohan Gunaratna, as saying the arrest of suspected Sri Lankan Muslim terrorist Zakir Hussain in Chennai on Tuesday, and the busting of his outfit in Tamil Nadu was “very significant” for the entire South Asian region.

Gunaratna, who heads the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University had said that cells such as Hussain’s have been functioning in Sri Lanka, the Maldives and India, posing a “severe threat” to the entire region. Author of an authoritative book on Al Qaida, Gunaratna told Express that Hussain was planning to attack targets in Sri Lanka and the Maldives as well as India.

The fact that terror groups are becoming autonomous and developing a life of their own, is making them intractable, Gunaratna pointed out in his comments.

M Daud Ehtisham, Press Attache at the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka, told Express that reports of Hussain working at the behest of Counselor Amir Zubair Siddiqui, are “speculative” and appear to be part of a “malicious media campaign”. (Colombo Gazette
